DENDRON FIELD

(GPS Address) 2867 Carsley Road, Dendron, VA 23839
The address is for reference only as there is no house on the property (thus no physical address). The field is adjacent to the house at the above address.  Signs will mark the driveway to the site. 
The field is basically flat, reclaimed farmland planted with field grass. It is not fenced, but it is in a very rural setting with limited road traffic and some natural borders of trees or farmland

There is no water or electricity at this field!!!  Some shade, but you should bring that too.

RVs need to notify us in advance of coming (so we know how many to plan for).  RVs should NOT attempt to show up on Friday evening after dark, as there are no lights to show the entrance, and we wouldn't want you to end up in the ditch.  When RVs do come in, they should park on the driveway, but allow enough space for smaller vehicles to get by.

Directions:

From the North -
From 295, take the Hopewell exit, taking Rt. 10 East for 29.7 miles.  Turn right onto Martin Luther King Highway (VA 40) for five miles, turn left onto Carsley Road  (VA 615) for 3.7 miles.  Then turn right onto Carsley Road and field will be on the right in about 1/2 mile. 

From the South -
From Emporia, get on Rt. 95 North towards Richmond for 19.8 miles, take Exit 31 (VA 40) towards Waverly/Sussex Courthouse for 28.1 miles.  Turn right onto Carsley Road (VA 615) for 3.7 miles.  Turn right again onto Carsley Road and field will be on the right in about 1/2 mile.

From Jamestown/Williamsburg -
Take VA 31 towards the Jamestown/Scotland Ferry.  Ferry is free, but check schedule for departure times.  Continue on VA 31 for 14.6 miles, then turn right onto Carsley Road.  The field is on the left in 2.9 miles.  (See above for Ferry schedule & info)

From Suffolk -
Take 460 West for 20.7 miles.  Turn right onto VA 31 for about 5 miles.  Turn left onto Carsley Road for 2.9 miles to the field on the left.

From Hampton/Newport News -
Take the James River Bridge (Rt 17S), then turn right onto Brewer's Neck Blvd. (Rt. 32/258) for 2.8 miles.  Turn right onto Benn's Church Blvd. (Rt. 10) for 22 miles.  Turn left at the light in Surry (VA 10/31) for 10.3 miles.  Turn right onto Carsley Road for 2.9 miles to the field on the left.

From Portsmouth/Chesapeake - Take 17 North into Isle of Wight County (Carrollton).  Turn left onto Brewers Neck Blvd.  (Rt. 32/258) for 2.8 miles.  Turn right onto Benn's Church Blvd. (Rt. 10) for 22 miles.  Turn left at the light in Surry (VA 10/31) for 10.3 miles.  Turn right onto Carsley Road for 2.9 miles to the field on the left.
 

Hotels are mostly in Williamsburg, which means you need to take the Ferry (which is free and usually departs every 30 minsutes) to get to the site. There may be other options for you on the Surry side (if you don't want to take the ferry).  Check the Hopewell area, especially if you are coming from the north.  There is also a nice Hampton Inn in Smithfield, but no pets allowed.  There is a "Wakefield Inn" on Rt. 460 in Wakefield that is about 11 miles from the field, but again, we do not know what it's like, although it is an older place.  Another option might be Suffolk.
